Rootsy folk rock
Fronted by Hunter Stone, a slide guitarist and songwriter based in Boulder, CO, Famous Men is a head-bobbing, foot-stomping groove machine that is sure to bring the crowd out on the floor. Mixing slide guitar of the Delta with poignant songwriting and three-part harmonies, Famous Men can move the crowd with their rhythms and with heartfelt storytelling.
The band, featuring Joshua Thomas (Drums) and Joe Plante (Bass) met on the streets of Boulder, CO, where Stone has been busking since moving there in 2014. The three started busking together 2017, creating a cocktail of impromptu street performances that blossomed into what Famous Men is today.
The band's name is borrowed from Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, a James Agee book about poor white Southern sharecroppers in the 1930s. The book told the story of a people who would be forgotten by time. Though many of us will never be crystalized by time, we have the ability to impact the people and generations around us, making all men famous in their own right.
