Outside Pets is the music of humid southern nights. Think cobblestone streets, glowing neon lights, billowing BBQ smoke, and undeniable grooves pouring from little neighborhood clubs. The music digs deep trenches of rhythm for gritty, soulful guitar and sweet vocal harmonies. You could call the band's sound "authentic," but that wouldn't do justice to the originators, folks like Rufus Thomas, The Meters, and Johnnie Taylor. Nor would it do justice to Outside Pets' ingenuity. The band's original songs blend pain and humor in a style reminiscent of their heroes, but in a way that embraces the band's rock, pop, and blues roots as well.
